We all know a person that knows a person that wins all kinds of stuff from the internet. They are always cashing in some weird coupon or having a case of ketchup show up at the house. How do they do it?
Contests and samples.
This site will post different contests to enter and ideas on how to organize all this stuff so you don’t end up super spammed.
The contests we are talking about are really called sweepstakes.
Sweepstakes are a form of contest where a prize or prizes may be awarded to a winner or winners. Sweepstakes began as a form of lottery that were tied to products sold. In response, the FCC and FTC refined U.S. broadcasting laws (creating the anti-lottery laws). Under these laws sweepstakes became strictly “No Purchase Necessary”, removing the consideration (one of the three legally required elements of gambling) to stop abuse of sweepstakes. Today, sweepstakes in the USA are used as marketing promotions to reward existing consumers, and to draw attention to a product.
What this basically means is that companies hold free drawings where they give product away and they do this as a form of advertisement. A win for both parties!
So get ready to fill out some forms and enter some sweepstakes.
I recommend some form of organization. A google sheet spreadsheet would probably be good to keep track of what you entered when, when the draw dates are etc. Then you won’t waste time trying to enter contests you already entered (and possibly disqualifying yourself for entering twice!). I will create a nice version of my own spread sheet and post it online soon.
If you want to play this game at the scale you need to in order to attain a reasonable amount of stuff requires some planning and organization and maybe just a touch of automation.
Stay tuned, these are the topics in coming posts!
